Gravity Pump Stations

Gravity pump stations are pretty simple. They have an area for holding the sewage, usually referred to as the wet well. The wet well can be large or small. The purpose of a wet well is to collect sewage before it is pumped on its way to the treatment plant. After a quantity of sewage is collected in the wet well, the sewage is pumped under pressure, through force mains. Pumps can move sewage a lot faster than the sewage can flow by means of gravity, and can also move the sewage uphill, over a great distance fast and also under the lake, allowing us to get the sewage from the North side of the lake to the South side where the Treatment Plant for SCCLSD is located.
